AIDS Clinical Trials Information Service (ACTIS)

Content

The
HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Databases comprise three main databases,
representing hundreds of trial records: (1) AIDSTRIALS for details of new
and ongoing clinical trials of drugs being tested for the treatment of
adults and children at all stages of HIV/AIDS, including vaccine trials
for HIV prevention, (2) AIDSDRUGS for details of drugs being tested in
these trials, (3) AIDS Clinical Trial Results Database for information
about published trials.
The HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Databases are part of ACTIS, a Public
Health Service project sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID),
the Food and Drug Administration, and the National Library of Medicine,
USA.

Other information available

The
site includes news and educational resources for patient and health
professional. A section highlighting AIDS vaccine trials and information
is also featured. There are links to sites for AIDS clinical trials
research groups and vaccine programs sponsored by the NIAID, and to many
other HIV/AIDS clinical trials websites.

Access

No
password or pre-registration required. AIDSTRIALS is also constantly
available, free of charge via Internet Grateful Med®.

Comments

The
AIDSTRIALS Database can be searched in two ways: using a simple search
screen or an advanced interface. Information about drugs used in each
trial is provided in each record via links to the AIDSDRUGS database. New
and ongoing trials may be searched in three categories: adult, children,
vaccines, and new trials (within the last 30 days) can be identified.
Each trial record is marked with the date on which it was last updated,
but it is unclear how frequently this occurs. Contact details are provided
for each trial.
