The Terry Beirn Community Programs for Clinical Research on AIDS (CPCRA) – a national, community-based clinical trials network, was established in 1989 in order to broaden the scope of the AIDS research effort of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to include clinical trials conducted in community-based settings.
