National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association

Content

The Clinical Trials Underway… section of the site contains a listing of about 20 currently enrolling clinical trials, each with a summary, the deadline for enrollment and contact information. Few of these are randomized controlled trials.
The Where to Go for Additional Help… section provides links to mental health organizations, many of which list clinical trials. There is an important link from here to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Clinical Studies at the NIH Clinical Center, which selects records of approximately 80 protocols of NIMH studies actively recruiting patients. There is also a link to the Community Outreach Network for information on national and local support groups.

The National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to educate, to foster self-help, to eliminate discrimination and stigma, to improve access to care and to advocate for research.

Other information available

There is access to the NDMDA brochure giving advice on taking part in clinical trials. Other parts of the site contain news, information on patient assistance programs, advice on setting up support groups, much background information on depressive conditions, and a directory of NDMDA chapters (for the confidential use of the organization’s members) There are facilities for online membership applications.
