The drug is rapidly absorbed from the GIT, completely metobolised in liver and is very well distributed throughout the body.
Bacteriostatic against M. tuberculosis . Also active against atypical mycobacteria such as M. kansasil, and some strains of M.avium complex and m.leprae.
When given with Cycloserine: the chance for adverse neurological effects, such as convulsions are increased.
Nausea, vomiting, anorexia, heptotoxicity, drowsiness, depression, peripheral neuritis, headache, skin rash, hypertension, convulsion, diplopia
Precaution to be taken in Diabetes mellitus where
hyperglycemia is difficult to control, and in patients with psychiatric
illness.
Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
Breast Feeding: Use with caution.
Man: May be used in reduced dose
