Pharmacokinetics
It is absorbed well after oral administration. Fungicidal
concentration is achieved in nail, saliva and vagina. It also penetrates
brain.
Indication
& Dosage
Oral
OROPHARYNGEAL
CANDIDIASIS: Start 200mg followed by 100mg/day for 14 days or more.
ORSOPHAGEAL CANDIDIASIS: Start 200mg followed by 100mg/day for 30 days
SYSTEMIC CANDIDIASIS: Initially 400mg followed by 200mg daily for 28 day
or more.
VAGINAL CANDIDIASIS: A single oral dose of 150mg
CRYPTOCOCCAL MENINGITIS AND OTHER CRYPTOCOCCAL INFECTIONS: Initially
400mg followed by 200-400mg daily. Duration depends on response.
100-200mg/day to prevent relapses.
IMMUNOCOMPROMISED PATIENTS FOR PROPHYLAXIS: 50-100mg daily

OROPHARYNGEAL CANDIDIASIS, OESOPHAGEAL CANDIDIASIS, SYSTEMIC
CANDISDIASIS ,VAGINAL CANDIDIASIS, CRYPTOCOCCAL MENINGITIS AND OTHER.
Action
Found effective in
several systemic fungal infections especially in candidiasis and
cryptococcosis associated with immunosuppression as in AIDS or cancer
therapy. Susceptible pathogens include Aspergillus spp, Blastomyced
detmatitidis, Candida spp, Coccidioidies immitis, Cryptococcus
neoformans and Histoplasma capsulatum.
