When given orally Oxyphenbutazone is completely absorbed. It is 98% plasma bound. It is metabolised in the liver by hydroxylation and glucuronidation. The plasma t1/2 is nearly about 60hrs.

ACUTE GOUT, & EXACERBATIONS OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS & ALLIED
CONDITIONS: 100-200MG
b.i.d/t.i.d
Action
It is p-hydroxy along of & one of the active metabolites of
phenylbutazone, haveing marked anti-inflammatory effect. Its potential
for serious toxicity, however, limits its use in long-term therapy.
Oxyphenbutazone potentiates the action of anticoagulants like warfarin and oral hypoglycaemic agents. It increases the toxicity of Methotrexate by reducing its renal clearance and displacing it from it plasma protein. Oxyphenbutazone also inhibits the metabolism of Phenytoin and also reduces the hypotensive effect of beta-blockers.
Precaution has to be taken in dyspepsia, hypertention
and in lactation.
Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
Breast Feeding: Use with caution.
Man: Use is inadvisable.
