Mean elimination half-lives for pilocarpine have been reported to be 0.76 and 1.35 hours following oral administration of 5 and 10 mg doses of the hydrochloride respectively. Inactivation of pilocarpine is thought to occur at neuronal synapses and probably in plasma. Pilocarpine and its inactive metabolites, including pilocarpic acid, are excreted in the urine.
