Conscious Awareness During General Anesthesia : Patients Perceptions, Emotions, Cognition and Reactions

Patients who are aware during general anesthesia may experience post-traumatic stress disorder. Little information is available about patient reaction to awareness or about its after effects. Two groups of patients completed a questionnaire about the incidence, quality, intensity, and accuracy of sensory perceptions, emotions and feelings, and cognition and realization during intraoperative awareness, as well as, about reactions, consequences and after effects.
