    Improvement in Endothelial Function by Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibition in Non-Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Mellitus.

    ACE inhibitors improved the nitric oxide dependent endothelial function in patients with type II diabetes, even in those who have no evidence of any vascular disease. This is probably the mechanism of action by which ACE inhibition preserves the renal function and is the best prophylactic against development of diabetic nephropathy.
