    Using Fetal Nuchal Translucency to Screen for Major Congenital Cardiac Defects at 14 Weeks of Gestation : Population Based Cohort Study

    This study suggest that if there is an increased fetal nuchal translucency thickness in ultrasonography of the pregnant mother in 55% of fetuses major abnormalities of heart and great vessels was identified. The good diagnostic performance of this measurement suggests that it may be useful as an indication for specialist fetal echocardiography’s opinion and assessment in such pregnant women to avoid and tackle complicated cardiac surgeries of defects which may not be viable afterwards.
