pharmacokinetics of trinitroglycerin and its
metabolites in patients with chronic stable angina.

Summary:
Trinitroglycerin (GTN) or glyceryl trinitrate is
widely used in patients in intensive care setting.
It is given intravenously to patients of
coronary artery disease. When such patients are stable and transferred to general ward, GTN
tapes are substituted for IV GTN for convenience.

This
study has documented the pharmacokinetics of GTN and
its metabolites during application of GTN
transdermally and after GTN infusion in patients
with chronic stable angina.
The results indicate that transdermal GTN
would maintain adequate therapeutic concentration of
GTN after it substitutes intravenous GTN.
