Prostate Specific Antigen Density of the Transition Zone for Early Detection of Prostate Cancer
J Urol 160: 411-419, 1998
Conclusion – Compared with other PSA parameters, Psa density of the transition zone increase the specificity of serum PSA for prostate cancer detection in patients with serum PSA ranging from 4 to 10 ng/ml.
Although PSA transition zone was more effective in prostate glands exceeding 30 cc and percent of free PSA was more effective in prostates of less than 30 cc, the combination of percent of free PSA and PSA transition zone further increases the prediction of prostate cancer.
