The Impact of Medical Therapy on Bother Due to symptoms, Quality of Life and global Outcome, and factors Predicting Response

    J Urol 160: 1358-1367, 1998

Conclusion – In men with clinical BPH, teazosin alone or in combination with finasteride is significantly more effective in improving symptoms than finasteride alone.

Finasteride is believed to reduce prostate volume in patients with BPH. However, this is no correlation between a reduction in prostates and a response to this drug. Thus a1 blockers such as terazosin are recommended as first-line therapy for patients with
    BPH.
