Commentary – Screening Mammography-an overview revisited

    The Lancet October 20, 2001, Vol.358 (9290) Pg. 1284-1285

Screening mammography programs are being conducted all over the world to detect early breast cancer. Peter Gftzsche and Ole Olsen have collected data on screening mammography and found that most trials were of poor quality.

The best trials did not provide any evidence of reduction in total or breast cancer mortality. At present there is no reliable evidence from large randomised trials to support screening mammography programs.
