Bacterial contamination of amniotic membrane
Br.J of Opthal, vol.85(2), 228-229, Feb.2001
This study aims to identify the bacterial contaminants commonly found on placental membranes from both caesarian and vaginal deliveries.
Amniotic membrane grafts – have been used in ophthalmology over persistent corneal epithelial defects with ulceration.
The authors recommend that amnion for use in ocular surface procedures should be only from placentas following elective caesarean deliveries.
