Cervical Lymph Node Metastases and Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lip.
Head Neck 21: 447-453, 1999.
All 1001 patients were reviewed with lip carcinoma.
Cervical lymphadenopathy is not absolutely indicative of nodal metastases and therefore histologically or cytologically metastasis needs to be confirmed. Elective dissection is justified for very poorly differentiated cancer and for locally recurrent lip cancers in which the initial tumour was greater than 2 cms.
