    The efficacy of Intravesical Bacillus
Calmette-Gurin in the Treatment of Interstitial
    Cystitis : Long term Follow-up

    J Urol 159 ; 1483-1487, 1998

Background – A recent prospective, double blind,
    placebo-controlled trial of intravesical bacillus
calmeett-Guerin [BCG] for the treatment of

for acute treatment compared with 27% for placebo,
    at an 8 month follow-up

    Methods & Findings –

    > 8 of 9 responders continued to have an
    excellent response

    > Daily voids declined by 31%

    > Nocturia improved by 54%

    > Mean voided volume improved by 61%

    > Pelvic pain decreassed by 81%

    > Vaginal pain decreased by 71%

    > Dysuria by 82%

    > Overall well-being improved by 54%

    > Depareunia resolved in 86%
