Early Experience with Intraoperative Cavernous Nerve Stimulation with Penile Tumescence Monitoring to Improve Nerve Sparing During Radical Prostatectomy
Urology 52: 537-542, 1998
Conclusion – the use of the uromed device to map the cavernous nerves intraoperatively resulted in either partial or full erections in 16 of 19 patients with tumescence intraoperatively.
This degree of preservation of erectile function compared favorably with the authors patient-reported postoperative potency rate of only 30% when conventional nerve sparing procedures without this device were employed.
These preliminary data are encouraging.
